The Education2Employment Programme is funded by the Department for Communities and is managed and co-ordinated by Newry and Mourne Enterprise Agency.
The Programme has four distinctive elements:
- Class study visits
- Work placements
- Mentoring provided by local ‘business champions’
- Career Guidance Events
The Programme targets secondary level pupils aged 11-18 living in the Newry Neighbourhood Renewal Area and Primary 7 pupils attending the 5 Primary Schools which service the Newry Neighbourhood Renewal Area .

The Programme’s purpose is to introduce young people from the Neighbourhood Renewal Area to the workings of the modern economy and specifically to the world of work and to provide them with guidance on the range of fulfilling career and personal development pathways open to them.
A group of 25 Primary 7 pupils from the Partner Primary schools participate in a ‘Coder Dojo’ Programme annually. The aim of which is to demystify computer coding and to encourage an interest in mathematics and computing.
An annual ‘Career Pathways’ event is held in the Mourne Country Hotel in Newry and over 500 secondary school pupils attend.
